Background & Challenges:

The Spark Education Learning Centre provides one-to-one teaching to support pupils who are experiencing difficulties in mainstream education, particularly focusing on excluded pupils. It provides a vital service to local schools, parents and pupils as one of the only non profit making institutions available to help pupils who are struggling with their schooling. SPARK wanted a dynamic, contemporary web presence to communicate better with the local community and to reflect the valuable work they’re doing. Working to a tight deadline, SPARK had been very proactive in collecting content and images for the site and had a good idea of the direction they wanted the project to take.

Solutions & Benefits:

Seizing on SPARK’s initial ideas, the School Website design team came up with a stylish black and pink design that incorporated the neon flourishes of their logo. The intended audience for SPARK’s new website included teachers, parents, pupils and other community members ranging in age and requiring different information. Therefore it was crucial this design could appeal across the board and that specific information was easy to find. The group were keen to promote what they did and share this information with their audience so the homepage layout includes a prominent latest news blog, which allows the audience to subscribe using RSS feeds, as well as good use of slideshows to give a visual flavour of SPARK’s work. Eagle eyed visitors may also find Sparky, the Centre’s mascot, who can fly around the site!
