Background & Challenges
The E-Learning Foundation is a national government run organisation providing IT and the Internet to underprivileged school children in the UK. The Foundation is well regarded in its field and offers a free advisory service as well as financial support and campaigns tirelessly on the issue of the “digital divide”. The existing e-Learning website was felt to be outdated and hard to update and they wanted to work with a company who knew the education sector to produce something that was cleaner, more contemporary and easy to navigate.
Solutions & Benefits
A website for such a client would always be content-rich based on the sheer amount of information the Foundation provides. The need to be able to update this quickly and easily was particularly crucial in this case as relevant news articles are published almost daily. Adopting current web trends such as streaming video and blogging was also a key consideration. The design was kept deliberately minimal to keep the focus on this wealth of content. The communication angle was our main focus during the design stage, aiming for different audiences to be able to find relevant information quickly and easily.
Affiliates also benefit from a secure area of the site where member information can be accessed. Within the secure area a number of resources are provided including a forum for discussion.
